Chaired by Pro. Abdel Aziz Qanswa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Qandil, President of Capital University, participated in the second meeting of the Higher Committee of the 58th Cairo International Book Fair for 2027, to follow up on preparations for the upcoming edition and discuss ways to improve the fair’s organizational and service aspects.
The meeting witnessed a presentation of the architectural and engineering plan prepared by the Capital University Consulting Center to improve the circulation system within the Cairo International Book Fair, reorganize and redistribute the spaces of the exhibition booths, and widen the main corridors in the halls, thereby contributing to enhancing the flow of visitors and optimizing the use of available space, while ensuring equal opportunities for participating publishing houses.
Capital University’s participation in the committee’s work affirms the university’s commitment to leveraging its academic, engineering, and consulting expertise to support national and cultural projects, and to strengthening the role of academic institutions in providing scientific and planning solutions that contribute to the development of major events with cultural and societal significance.
Prof. Abdel Aziz Qanswa emphasized that the 58th edition of the fair is witnessing a shift toward comprehensive development of the organizational and digital systems, thereby promoting the Cairo International Book Fair’s status as one of the most important cultural events in Egypt and the region.

The committee discussed the fair’s digital transformation strategy, reviewing the plan to launch the fair’s unified mobile app—scheduled for December 1—which will include smart search functions for books and publishers, interactive maps, and online ticket booking, while exploring the possibility of adding an AI-powered smart assistant and making certain services available offline.
The meeting also covered the development of infrastructure and networks within the Egypt International Exhibition Center in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, to ensure the provision of stable and effective digital services for fair visitors.
The meeting also reviewed the results and statistics from the 57th edition, with the aim of using them to improve the level of organization and services during the upcoming edition, in addition to discussing the structure of the executive committees, their responsibilities, and the mechanisms for coordination among them.
The committee also discussed the proposed criteria for selecting the two honorary guests and the logo for the 58th edition, as well as the fair’s main intellectual and cultural themes, with the aim of achieving synergy between cultural, artistic, and professional events, children’s activities, and international events.
The meeting emphasized the importance of continued coordination among the relevant authorities and follow-up on the implementation of recommendations in the coming period, to ensure the completion of preparations for the 58th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair in line with a vision aimed at developing the fair’s organizational, service, and digital infrastructure.
